ANTI-RAGGING WEEK CELEBRATION AT GIMS FROM 12th-18th AUGUST 2024
Greater Noida: Government Institute of Medical Sciences (GIMS), Greater Noida observed ‘Anti-Ragging Week’ from 12th to 18th August 2024, as per University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines and National Medical Commission (NMC) directives to curb the menace of ragging in college and campus. The orientation programme on anti-ragging was held on 12th Aug 2024 at GIMS Academic Block and Hospital Building under the esteemed guidance of Dr Saurabh Srivastava, Director, GIMS.

The anti-ragging pledge was taken by the students of MBBS batches 2020, 2021 and 2022 followed by signatures committing to avoid participating in any form of ragging. On 13th August, Dr Kiran Jakhar, Associate Professor, Psychiatry discussed the psychological effects of ragging among students. On 14th August, a poster competition was conducted on the theme ‘ Say No to Ragging’ to highlight the negative aspects of ragging through catchy slogans.

The prize winners of poster competition were MBBS Batch 2022 students Rishika, Garima and Divyanshi (1st,2nd,3rd rank respectively).On 16th August, Dr Satendra Kumar, Proctor, addressed the MBBS and Nursing students to discuss various anti-ragging measures in college and campus. The guest speaker Mr Veerbhadra Singh, Sub Inspector, Thana Kasna warned the students against ragging and emphasised that ragging is a serious offence. On 17th August, a documentary movie was screened to re-emphasize the importance of fostering a ragging free college and campus environment.
The program was led by Dr Ranjana Verma, Officiating Dean (Professor & Head Dept of Anatomy)and coordinated by Dr PS Mittal (Professor, Anatomy). The week-long events were well-attended by MBBS students who displayed their solidarity with the anti-ragging cause.Faculty from various departments also joined the event, showcasing their unwavering support for maintaining a ragging-free campus. Dr Sonu, Dr Bhuvan Adhlakha, Dr Mamta Yadav, Dr Anju Rani,Dr Prerna Agarwal,Mr Yatharth Mishra, Ms Radhika Agarwal,Ms Utkarsh, Ms Surabhi Puri, Mr Kushal Katiyar were the event organisers. In conclusion, observance of anti-ragging week served as a testament to the GIMS commitment to ensure well-being and safety of all its students.
