Russia Does Not Need a Truce but the Surrender of Neo-Nazis in Ukraine : Sergey Mironov

Sergey Mironov, the leader of the “A Just Russia – Patriots – For Truth” party and faction in the State Duma, commented on the statement by the special envoy of the US President, Stephen Witkoff, on the need for a truce in Ukraine.
“What will such a truce mean on the ground? Only that the Ukrainian neo-Nazis will get a break to prepare for the continuation of the war. Doesn’t it look like the Minsk Agreements? Therefore, the position of the President, the Government, and the Parliament of Russia is unified and unambiguous: the suspension of the special military operation under current conditions does not meet the interests of Russia’s security. This way, we will only delay the achievement of our goals and increase our losses.

These goals are well known: the denazification and demilitarization of Ukraine. For Russia, these are the foundations of the peace agreement that Trump’s envoy is talking about. We need the capitulation of the Kiev regime so that Ukraine, free of neo-Nazis, can hold elections and elect legitimate authorities.

Russia will not stop until it reaches its legitimate goals. This is in the interests of the security of not only Russia but also Europe and the whole world. It is impossible to defeat a nuclear power on the battlefield, and it is more expensive to strangle it economically, as the experience of eleven years of sanctions shows. The United States is beginning to understand this, and the sooner others understand it, the sooner lasting peace will come.”
