Indraprastha Horticulture Society -Inspiring Community Action for a Greener Future

The Indraprastha Horticulture Society (IHS) stands as a shining example of how collective community effort can contribute meaningfully to environmental conservation and sustainable living. Dedicated to nurturing a love for gardening and promoting ecological awareness, the Society has consistently worked towards creating greener, healthier surroundings through innovative and inclusive initiatives.

One of the core strengths of IHS lies in its commitment to waste reduction and resource conservation. Members actively practise recycling and reusing discarded materials, creatively transforming waste into functional and aesthetic garden elements. Through these efforts, neglected and barren spaces have been converted into vibrant green landscapes, enhancing not only environmental quality but also the visual appeal of urban neighbourhoods.

From its modest beginnings 28 years ago in East Delhi, as a circle of gardening enthusiasts, the IHS has blossomed into a well-organised network with active units in Ghaziabad and Dehradun. This expansion reflects the Society’s increasing influence and its ability to inspire people across regions to adopt environmentally responsible practices.

Education and youth engagement, especially of children, are at the heart of the IHS’s mission. Understanding that the future of the environment lies with the younger generation, the Society conducts lectures, demonstrations, and hands-on workshops to inspire children and youth to take responsibility and actively participate in preserving and enriching the natural world.

IHS holds a Flower Show every year that is eagerly awaited and attended by visitors throughout Delhi and NCR. The society uses this event to focus attention upon environmental issues. This year’s Flower Show, themed “Harmony in Nature,” will be held at Bahubali DDA Park, Delhi, on Saturday, 14 February and Sunday, 15 February 2026.
