Russia could provide security guarantees to Europe if the US withdraws from NATO : Sergey Mironov
Russia could provide security guarantees to Europe in the event of the US withdrawal from NATO if the conditions outlined by the Russian Federation in 2021 are met, said Sergey Mironov, leader of the Just Russia–Patriots–For Truth party and faction in the State Duma.
“European leaders have been scaring their citizens with the mythical Russian threat for years and turning the causes of rising tensions in Europe upside down. Now the degree of Russophobia has reached such an extent that they are seriously discussing the possibility of the United States withdrawing from NATO and the need to create European forces. What for? To protect themselves from Russia? But Russia is not going to attack the Europeans and is no less interested in security throughout the Eurasian space. Since Vladimir Putin’s Munich speech in 2007, Russia has offered very specific solutions to the accumulated problems.
Today, in order to achieve security in Europe, it is foremost necessary to end the conflict in Ukraine, and for this, to eliminate its root causes**—**to eliminate the neo-Nazi regime in Kiev and guarantee the neutral status of the country.
Next, the Europeans should move NATO’s military infrastructure away from Russia to the frontiers of 1997. This should become a key element of the new security architecture in Europe, which Russia is ready to build together with the Europeans.
In this case, the possible withdrawal of US troops from Europe will not carry risks and will not make European countries unprotected. Stable peace and mutually beneficial cooperation instead of an arms race and conflicts are what Russia offers.”
