NMRC WINS SPECIAL AWARD AT THE 19th URBAN MOBILITY INDIA CONFERENCE AND EXPO 2026

Noida Metro Rail Corporation Limited (NMRC) has been conferred with a Special Award at the 19th Urban Mobility India (UMI) Conference and Expo 2026, held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, in recognition of its technical initiative towards optimisation of civil structure design and infrastructure costs.

The award recognises NMRC’s proactive approach towards reviewing design provisions, assessing their implications for infrastructure projects and promoting technically sound, economical and efficient engineering practices.

NMRC was among the early organisations to undertake geotechnical investigations to evaluate the impact on structural design. Subsequently, following deliberations with the Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs (MoHUA), NMRC expanded its assessment beyond Metro structures to include building structures, enabling a more comprehensive evaluation of the implications for structural design and potential financial costs.

Based on its technical assessment and comparative analysis, NMRC presented its findings to the relevant technical and administrative authorities, leading to further consideration of the matter at the national level.

NMRC’s timely initiative is estimated to have helped avert approximately ₹500 crore in potential cost escalation across its three Aqua Line extension projects. Considering the wider applicability of the technical issues examined, the potential cost avoidance across Metro Rail and other national infrastructure projects could amount to thousands of crores of rupees during the current financial year अलोन. This represents a significant contribution towards economical infrastructure development and the prudent utilisation of public funds.

MD/NMRC, Krishna Karunesh nominated Kranti Sekhar (Executive Director), and Pradeep Yadav, IRSE, (General Manager/Projects) along with Project team members Ujwal Kumar (DGM/Civil/Projects) and Sunny R Gupta(Manager/Civil/Projects) to received the national-level award, on behalf of NMRC, in recognition of the Corporation’s technical initiative and collective efforts.

The recognition reflects NMRC’s commitment to engineering excellence, innovation, evidence-based decision-making and prudent utilisation of public funds. Through such initiatives, NMRC continues to contribute towards the development of safe, efficient, sustainable and economically viable urban mobility infrastructure.
