The Bharat Scouts and Guides Celebrates 74th Foundation Day

New Delhi: The Bharat Scouts and Guides, the national Scouting and Guiding association of India, is celebrating its 74th Foundation Day today. The BSG was formed on November 7, 1950, by the merger of the Boy Scouts Association in India and the All India Girl Guides Association.
The BSG is a voluntary, non-political, uniformed youth organization and educational movement that aims to develop the character, citizenship, and personality of the young boys and girls of India, without any distinction of caste, creed, and religion. The BSG follows the principles and methods of the founder of the Scout Movement, Lord Baden-Powell.
The BSG has a membership of over 6 million, making it one of the largest youth organizations in the world. The BSG is affiliated with the World Organization of the Scout Movement (WOSM) and the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS). The BSG has also been recognized by the Government of India and has been conferred the Rajiv Gandhi National Youth Award for its outstanding contribution to the field of youth development.
The BSG has a rich and glorious history of service to the nation and society. The BSG has organized and participated in various national and international events and activities, such as the Independence Day Celebrations, Har Ghar Tiranga, the National Integration Camps, the Jamborees, the Moots, the World Scout Conferences, the World Scout Jamborees, the World Guide Conferences, the World Centenary Celebrations, and many more. The BSG has also been actively involved in various social, and community service/development projects such as the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, the Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Disaster Management, Environment Protection, AIDS Awareness, Blood Donation, the Literacy Campaign and Government initiatives etc.
The BSG is committed to its motto of "Be Prepared" for the Scouts and Guides and "Service" for the Rovers and Rangers. The BSG strives to instill in its members’ the values of duty, loyalty, honesty, courage, self-reliance, cooperation, and service to God and humanity. The BSG believes that empowering the youth with the skills, knowledge, and attitude, can shape them into responsible and productive citizens of the country and the world.
Judgement of Outstanding Scouts / Guides Award – 2022 was held at National Headquarters, New Delhi. 04 Scouts & 04 Guides from different states selected for this award. The judging was conducted on their community service, scouting, academic and leadership etc.
BSG Foundation Day : All the State Associations of BSG have celebrated the Foundation Day on 7th Nov, 2023. The members of BSG Governor, Chief Minister, District Administration people of their respective states and presented them the BSG Flag as token of love towards the Movement. An online webinar was also conducted at NHQ highlighting the BSG highlights from 1950 to 2023. Dr. K. K. Khandelwal, IAS (Red.), Chief National Commissioner blessed the entire Scouts / Guides family on this occasion.
On this auspicious occasion of the 74th Foundation Day, the BSG extends its heartfelt greetings and best wishes to all its members, leaders, ministries, government and other agencies, patrons, supporters, and well-wishers. The BSG also expresses its gratitude to the Government of India, the State Governments, the WOSM, the WAGGGS, and all the other organizations and individuals who have been supporting and encouraging the BSG in its noble mission. The BSG pledges to continue its efforts to fulfill its tagline of “Creating - Better India” through Scouting and Guiding.
