BIG BREAKING: NMC Withdraws MBBS Approval of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College
Jammu | Delhi NCR। In a significant development, the National Medical Commission (NMC) has withdrawn the MBBS approval of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Medical College, bringing national attention to serious lapses in compliance, transparency, and governance at the institution.
This decisive action is being widely seen as the result of sustained public pressure and institutional accountability efforts led by JaiGhosh Foundation, Sangharsh Samiti Jammu, and the alert, aware youth of Jammu.
Role of JaiGhosh Foundation & RTI Movement
The JaiGhosh Foundation, played a pivotal role by filing multiple Right to Information (RTI) applications, which exposed irregularities and raised uncomfortable but necessary questions before the authorities. These RTIs created sustained pressure on the administration and regulatory bodies, ultimately compelling corrective action.
Importantly, this collective effort also ensured that the Medical College of Jammu was forced to withdraw its controversial and discriminatory decision regarding admissions, reaffirming that educational institutions must function strictly within constitutional and legal frameworks, without bias or exclusion. This ensured that arbitrary decisions impacting students and the future of medical education did not go unquestioned.
Statement from JaiGhosh Foundation
Speaking on the development, Shri Deepak Handoo, President, JaiGhosh Foundation (Delhi NCR), stated:
“This is not a victory of one organization, but of truth, transparency, and constitutional values. RTI is a powerful democratic tool, and when citizens use it responsibly, even the most powerful institutions are accountable. JaiGhosh Foundation will continue to stand against injustice and arbitrariness in education and governance.”
Way Forward
JaiGhosh Foundation and Sangharsh Samiti Jammu and youth of Jammu have reiterated their commitment to: Transparency in educational institutions Equal treatment of all students as per the Constitution Accountability of regulatory and administrative bodies They have also demanded a thorough audit and corrective roadmap to ensure that students’ futures are not compromised due to administrative failures.
