YOGA MATHTSAV-2023-AN EVENT TO COMMEMORATE 100 DAYS COUNTDOWN TO INTERNATIIONAL DAY OF YOGA-2023

With successful Yoga Mahotsav-2023- Ground Set for IDY-2023 on June, 21, 2023:
New Delhi; The Morarji Desai National Institute of Yoga, under the aegis of Ministry of Ayush, organised a three days event- the Yoga Mahotsav-2023 - to commemorate 100 days countdown to International Day of Yoga-2023, which concluded today. Shri Sarbananda Sonowal, Hon’ble Union Minister of Ayush and Port, Shipping & Waterways urged the corporate houses to start Yoga classes in their office premises, which will help in increasing efficiency and productivity, The Hon’ble Minister also launched “Yoga@Workplace-Yoga in Chair” for the employees of Public & Corporate sectors. He exhorted one and all to include Yoga in their lifestyle.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Chief Minister, Manipur, Union Ministers, Eminent Yoga gurus and masters and renowned Jain Muni Kamal Kumarji.
The Chief guest of the Valedictory Session was Shri Sikander Kumar, Hon’ble Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Himachal Pradesh. In his address, he stressed on inculcating the values of Yoga for a better lifestyle and well-being. Others present were Vice Chancellor of Hamirpur University Prof. Dr. Sanjeev Sharma and Dr. Ishwar V. Basavaraddi, Director, MDNIY.
Today, a Post Yoga Mahotsav Workshop was organized at the MDNIY, which was graced by Dr. Sahlini Rajneesh Goel, Addl Chief Secretary, Department of Youth Empowerment and sports, Government of Karnataka. While addressing the Anganwadi workers, she commended the initiatives of MDNIY to take the remotest villages of India, as well as promoting Yoga among police personnel, students, Anganwadi workers, elderly persons, and other segments of society.
The event, witnessed a summit of Vice Chancellors on ‘IDY-A reflection on its Past and Opportunity for Future’; and another summit of Yoga Heads on ‘Yoga-its Past/Present/Future’. Besides discourses by eminent personalities, mesmerising cultural programmes were other attractions.
An MoU between MDNIY and Mahabodhi International Meditation Centre (MIMC), Leh, Ladakh was signed to promote Yoga through academic activities, research and training and sharing of expertise.
